Anime Central, otherwise known as Acen, is the largest anime, manga and Japanese culture convention held in Rosemont, Illinois, each year, and will return to the Donald E. Stevens Convention Center from May 17 to May 19, 2019.
The convention prepares to bring in hundreds of thousands of fans and entertainers from not only across the country but from across the globe. Notable guests that will appear at the con include voice actress Kiyono Yasuno, actress/model/singer Hinata Sato, voice actor/songwriter Lex Lang, and singer-lyricist ZAQ. Acen will also debut its first ever “red carpet” event for members of the media covering the event.
Large industry guests that will host exhibitions on the 2019 Acen floor include Crunchyroll, the Japanese Culture Center, Bang Zoom! Entertainment, Funimation and Cygames. Bang! Zoom will be hosting open auditions and a talent search during the con. Among these entertainment giants that will be prevalent at the convention, other visiting representatives from anime cons, and independent artists alike will be making their appearances.
In addition, there will be events and gatherings hosted by con attendees for others to attend. There are around seventy-seven cosplay meetups confirmed for Acen, ranging from anime programming to Marvel, video games, and even Lazy Town. Other events for costumers include the nightly raves/EMD Dances held in the Hyatt, the Masquerade the Formal Dance and the cosplay “hall” contest.
Video gaming, table-top gaming, a manga library and screenings of anime will be available for attendees. Fans are also offered the opportunity to organize their own panels and program their own events. Panels are open-ended and a creative way to become even more involved at Anime Central with a personal flair.
Anime Central, at an extensive glance, has a little bit to offer for everyone. Whether it be day-time activities, restless nightlife, costume events or anything in-between, the convention prepares for another thrilling weekend.
