Meet Koty Decent. Koty is a nineteen-year-old musician currently residing in North Platte, Nebraska. Locally, he is best known for his music, along with his performances at a local cafe, where he sings and plays the guitar every other Friday.
Koty has big dreams when it comes to the future of his music career. He shared that he plans to move to California to further pursue his musical journey. When asked about what he ultimately wants for the future, he said “I just want to be me. I want to meet new people, try new things, and get away from the drama.”
Koty has been playing the piano since he was about sixteen, and says he has been playing the guitar since “the ripe age of eighteen.” He started singing at age four. When asked about when he decided to start publicly performing his music, he said: “I’ve always had thoughts of performing since I was a kid.” When he found the opportunity to perform his music in front of an audience, he seized it. He was inspired to pursue music by Linkin Park, AC/DC, Def Leppard, Tupac, Biggie Smalls, along with many others” Some of the titles of his original songs are Systems, There Will Be Blood, and Don’t Wanna Be Alone (which can be found on his YouTube channel.) His favorite original he has written is Systems. He has a new release coming soon and plans on releasing many songs in the future.
When Koty isn’t writing, playing, or listening to music, he enjoys hanging out with his friends and devoting his life to “Shrekism.” Koty is a very creative, unique, and talented person with a great sense of humor.
Along with interviewing Koty DeCent, I also talked to a few of his closest friends about what great things they see in Koty and his music.
Bobby Fryer said, “He is probably the most down to earth guy that I would ever want to be part of my life. He just has a vibe to him that feels like you can trust him no matter what.”
“I think Koty will go far in life with his music and voice,” said Angie Shepherd. “He is a very loving adult and cares deeply about his friends. The music he writes goes straight to the heart because it’s reality. I have to say, Koty is one of my best male friends and I can’t wait to see him going big in this world.”
I also spoke with Koty’s good friend Jake Reed who stated, “Koty is the greatest friend I have. His heart is always in the right place and he’s always there when you need him.”

I highly encourage everyone to support the talented artists who are currently local or have a limited audience in whatever way that they can. Supporting these creators in their journey can help their goals to become a reality, as well as spread their work to other people who can enjoy or learn from it. Discover the talent now, and help others to discover it later. Spread the creativity now and always.
