All of the blood had dried since then

and so had my eyes.

My heart was more full.

I did not hurt in the same ways.

This was a new day.

I no longer resided on the underside of a weight,
I set myself free.

I let go of all things,

but me.

I found myself.

The past no longer grounded me.

I set myself free.

I wasn’t lost when he found me.

I planted my own gardens,

I replaced my own soil,

I grew every gentle petal

on my own.

I released anger

and in its place I planted self love,

more love,

He didn’t step on me when he walked in.

For the first time, when love came

he didn’t just set me on fire,

he watered me.
